Epsom Derby (Eng-I) and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) winner Golden Horn arrived at Keeneland the evening of Oct. 24 ahead of his expected start in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. I) Oct. 31. The 3-year-old Cape Cross colt is the likely favorite for the 1 1/2-mile Turf, which attracted 13 pre-entries.
The John Gosden trainee left Newmarket Saturday morning and was flown directly from London to Louisville. After passing through customs, Golden Horn, along with Godolphin's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT) contenders Cymric and Birchwood, was vanned to Lexington and arrived at about 7 p.m. EDT.
"(At) Keeneland, they'll have bloods taken," said Adrian Beaumont of the International Racing Bureau. "Once we get clearance, they'll be free to train. The horses are not allowed to leave the barns until they've been there for 42 hours."
Golden Horn, whose first expected day of training is Oct. 27, will be stabled in a quarantine barn at the Rice Road training annex as will Birchwood, a Dark Angel colt, and Cymric, a Kitten's Joy colt. Both are group I-placed.
