Triple Crown winner American Pharoah walked the shedrow under exercise rider George Alvarez and did not go to the track Oct. 28, his first morning at Keeneland after arriving in Lexington the afternoon of Oct. 27.

As heavy rains pelted the bluegrass, the 3-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile   circled Barn 62 with owners Ahmed Zayat and Justin Zayat looking on. Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert arrived late at the track after getting a flat tire on his way, but said his horse is already fit and ready for his run in the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I).

"We were not sure what we were going to do today, because of the weather," Ahmed Zayat said. "Bob trains on the cuff. It's very sloppy outside... Why did we decide to stay in? Just because it's safer."

Spendthrift Farm's champion racemare Beholder also stayed indoors, tack-walking under Janeen Painter. Winner of the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and the 2013 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), she is seeking to become the first horse in history to win three different Breeders' Cup events when she takes on American Pharoah in the Classic.

Classic contenders taking to the track the morning of Oct. 28 included Honor Code, Keen Ice, Tonalist, and Frosted.
