Bella Jolie, whose stock ramped up over the weekend when Runhappy won the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), was sold for $1.6 million to Stonestreet during the early portion of the Nov. 3 second session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
Consigned by Ashview Farm, the 8-year-old winning daughter of Broken Vow was sold in foal to Cairo Prince.
Produced from the Northern Jove mare Jolie Boutique, Bella Jolie is a half sister to stakes winner Millennium Storm, stakes-placed stakes producer Merrill Gold, and stakes-placed Itsabeautifulthing.
Runhappy, a son of Super Saver who is the first foal out of Bella Jolie, has never been given the anti-bleeding drug Lasix. From seven starts he has six wins, for earnings of $1,301,300. Runhappy was purchased by James McIngvale for $200,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September yearling sale.
"Obviously we couldn't be more pleased," said Ashview's Wayne Lyster. "That's a pretty big deal for Ashview, which is a small farm. It's gratifying to breed a champion (in Runhappy), and it's great it happened at Keeneland.
"That's a really strong price, but it's not all about price and money. To be able to co-breed a champion sprinter with my two sons, there is no value to put on that."
