Jockey Von Rosen Suffers Serious Injury

Description:

Jockey Anne Von Rosen will undergo a second surgery following a March 11 spill in a Quarter Horse race at Turf Paradise in which Von Rosen suffered a serious spinal injury.

The Jockeys' Guild reported March 12 that Von Rosen currently has paralysis from her waist down. Guild national manager Terry Meyocks said the rider is preparing for a second surgery March 14. He called for prayers for Von Rosen, a member of the Guild.

Von Rosen's mount, Panchita Bonita, fell after the 400-yard race and landed on top of the 43-year-old rider. She underwent surgery the evening of March 11 to address injuries to her spine at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

Von Rosen regularly rides in Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse races at Turf Paradise and Canterbury Park in Minnesota.
