Sports Illustrated announced American Pharoah among the nominees for the 2015 Sportsman of the Year award on Wednesday. After becoming the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years earlier this year, American Pharoah continued racing after his Belmont triumph, winning both the Haskell Invitational and completing his career with a victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic for owner Zayat Stables and trainer Bob Baffert. American Pharoah won seven of his eight starts overall this year and collected nearly $8.3 million under jockey Victor Espinoza.
