Stuart S. Janney III's Onus, who has moved steadily through her conditions at Laurel Park for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey, could take the next step to grade II winner in an overflow field for the $200,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes (gr. IIT) Nov. 14 at Churchill Downs.
Riding a three-race win streak on turf, the daughter of Blame enters off a 4 1/2-length victory Sept. 26 in the 1 1/8-mile Commonweath Oaks (gr. IIIT), following a 10 1/2-length allowance romp going 1 1/16 miles Aug. 14, off an eight-length maiden-breaking score at a mile July 11.
Forrest Boyce, who has been aboard for the victory trio, comes in for this start. The duo will leave post 7. All runners in the 1 1/16-mile turf test for 3-year-old fillies carry 118 pounds.
Taking the drop from grade I company is Calumet Farm's Return to Grace, who was fifth last time out in the Oct. 10 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (gr. IT) at Keeneland. Prior to that 1 1/8-mile turf test when she split horses to register a late gain from far back, Return to Grace won the Dueling Grounds Oaks at Kentucky Downs for trainer Mark Casse. The English Channel filly drew post 2 and will have Joe Rocco Jr. aboard in pursuit of her first graded win.
Casse also has Woodford Racing's Season Ticket chasing a graded score; the daughter of Lemon Drop Kid won the Wonder Where Stakes in August going 1 1/4 miles at Woodbine, and was second last out in an allowance test going the Mrs. Revere distance at the Canada track Oct. 25. Corey Lanerie gets the mount from the 12 hole.
Grade III winners Prado's Sweet Ride and Rainha Da Bateria complete the field along with stakes winners Celestine, Partisan Politics, Isabella Sings, and Devine Aida, along with allowance winners Kathballu, Darling Sky, Tammy the Torpedo, Bobbi Grace, and Robillard.
