Citing dangerous wind conditions, Hawthorne Race Course canceled live racing for Nov. 18.
According to the Chicago-area track, a recent system through the Midwest that included rain and heavy winds Tuesday led to increased winds out of the south with gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour Wednesday.
All races that were originally carded on Wednesday will be brought back as extras. Hawthorne remained open for simulcasting, with live racing scheduled to resume Nov. 20.
