America’s Best Racing and BetAmerica team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo, Mike Johnson or Vince Mathews – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet. The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.
Place your bets at BetAmerica, which prides itself on outstanding customer service combined with the safety and security of wagering with a reputable advance-deposit wagering platform. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

BEST BET/WIN BET
Delta Downs, Race 5, Delta Mile Stakes, 4:13 p.m. ET
#5 Rise Up is a graded stakes winner that has delivered some of his best performances at today’s distance. He’s a perfect 2-for-2 over this track and picks up the services of top local rider Gerard Melancon. His best weapon against this field will be his early speed. If he can clear early and hug those tight turns I think he will be tough to beat.
BEST BET/WIN BET
Del Mar, Race 8, Red Carpet Handicap, 6:59 p.m. ET
#7 Havanna Belle got going too late and finished a fast-closing fifth in her latest outing when traveling in the back of the pack. She galloped out with good energy and today’s extra distance should help her running style given some of the pace runners lined up. She has a good workout in preparation for this event and I hope we get anything close to the 20-1 morning line odds on her.
Sunday, Nov. 22
EXACTA BOX
Del Mar, Race 3, 4:30 p.m. ET
#4 Luvuryan ran a winning effort when second against a similar field last time out. That was her first race back for this trainer who claimed her back after losing her two starts ago. She finished over five lengths clear of the third-place finisher and picks up the services of the leading jockey in Rafael Bejarano.
#8 Can Can Babe is the one that can make this exacta pay nicely given that she is 8-1 on the morning line. This will be her first start since September and this trainer does well with this type of layoffs. She’s taking the blinkers off today and the last time time she ran without them she won by over two lengths at a higher claiming level at Golden Gate.
#9 Abets Abet is taking a drop in class for a trainer that started off the meet on a hot note. She has a good outside post that should give her a clear trip stalking the pacesetters.
BEST BET/WIN BET
Del Mar, Race 8, Cary Grant Stakes, 7 p.m. ET
#4 Soi Phet looks to be getting back into his rhythm. He was no match for Dortmund last time out when finishing a well-beaten fourth in a field of five but there are a number of runners with good early speed and if a pace meltdown happens, Soi Phet should be in a good mid-pack position to pick them up.
