Heaven Trees Farm's 2-year-old colt Dolphus, a half brother to Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, made his first start a winning one when he rallied from just off the pace to win a maiden special weight event at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots Nov. 22.

Dolphus, a Kentucky homebred owned by Dede McGehee of Heaven Trees, was ridden to victory by Brian Hernandez Jr. for trainer Joe Sharp. He rallied from sixth early to win by three-quarters of a length over Roman's Chance and covered the six furlongs on a fast track in 1:12.24.

Dolphus, 8-1 on the morning line, paid $5.20 to win as the favorite.

Dolphus is by Lookin At Lucky   out of Lotta Kim, whose first foal was Rachel Alexandra, by Medaglia d'Oro  . Lotta Kim was bred by Dolphus Morrison, who bred Rachel Alexandra and raced her in a partnership that sold her to Stonestreet Stables and Harold McCormick after her victory in the 2009 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I).

Lotta Kim, who had two wins and two seconds in four starts, won the 2004 Tiffany Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds. Rachel Alexandra won the 2009 Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II) and finished second in the 2010 New Orleans Ladies Stakes.
