Is It Falls City or Clark for Frivolous?

G. Watts Humphrey Jr.'s Frivolous is among 13 entered in the $200,000 Falls City Handicap (gr. II) at Churchill Downs Nov. 26, but she could end up facing males in the $500,000 Clark Handicap (gr. I) the following day.

Frivolous, a 5-year-old Kentucky homebred mare by Empire Maker  , won the Falls City last year at 19-1. In her last start she finished fifth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) Oct. 30.

"I'm pretty sure I know who is going in the Clark, but we'd like to see which post we like better and how the races look like they're going to set up," trainer Victoria Oliver said Nov. 22. "We'll make our decision in the next few days after we enter in the Clark."

Frivolous is the 122-pound highweight for the Falls City, but is listed at 115 for the Clark. Either way, her connections indicated it would be the final race of her career.

The Falls City, at 1 1/8 miles, is the headliner on a Thanksgiving Day program that begins at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Stoneway Farm's Ahh Chocolate, who finished second in the one-turn-mile Chilukki Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Nov. 7, will stretch out a bit for the Falls City. The 3-year-old Candy Ride   filly earlier this year finished third in the 1 1/8-mile Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) for trainer Neil Howard.

Bruce Ryan and trainer Tim Hamm's Blazing Meadows Farms has entered two-time Ohio Horse of the Year Needmore Flattery, a 4-year-old Flatter   filly who has 16 wins in 27 career starts. She won four consecutive Ohio-bred stakes from August through October.
