While the expected field of seven juvenile fillies for the $300,000 Demoiselle Stakes (gr. II) includes stakes winners and graded stakes-placed horses, Lewis Bay will enter the 1 1/8-mile test at Aqueduct Racetrack off perhaps the most visually impressive effort.
After finishing second in her Sept. 13 debut going six furlongs on a sloppy Belmont Park track, Alpha Delta Stables homebred Lewis Bay rolled in her second start, scoring by six lengths in an Oct. 18 maiden race at Belmont. The daughter of classic winner Bernardini should relish stretching out to two turns for the first time Saturday for trainer Chad Brown.
Multiple Eclipse Award-winning trainer Todd Pletcher has entered three fillies in this year's Demoiselle in Repole Stable homebred Lost Raven, King of Prussia Stable's Mo d'Amour, and Michael Tabor's Thrilled. All three fillies are by leading freshman sire Uncle Mo .
Lost Raven, who debuted with an easy victory in a maiden-claiming race this fall at Belmont, enters off a three-length romp in the six-furlong Smart Halo Stakes Nov. 14 at Laurel Park. Mo d'Amour will stretch out after delivering a clear victory in her maiden debut going six furlongs Nov. 15 at Aqueduct.
Thrilled will be making her main-track debut after earning a pair of runner-up finishes in turf stakes this year, including a narrow loss in the Miss Grillo Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Belmont. She most recently finished 11th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT) at Keeneland.
Drawing the rail is Coffeepot Stables' Flora Dora, who finished a close second to Big World in the Tempted Stakes (gr. III) going the one-turn mile at Aqueduct. Before that effort the daughter of First Dude won the Florida Sire My Dear Girl Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Rounding out the field is Gainesway Stable's Invite, who won a mile maiden race in the mud Oct. 29 at Belmont for trainer Bill Mott; and Glenn Bennett's Disco Rose, who enters off a fourth in the Tempted.
