Description:

Pantone just announced the 2016 Color of the Year; and for the first time, they’re seeing double with two selected hues! The colors are Rose Quartz, a soft pink; and Serenity, which is a powder blue shade.

Both colors are perfect for a day at the races, and below are two examples of how to rock each shade at the track this winter. As always, no item in any set costs more than $50, and if you click on the image you can shop the looks.  We’ll start with two outfits that use the rose quartz hue, then two that showcase serenity. Ready? Let’s go!

Pastels are on-trend for fall-winter 2016, and this pink coat ($46, Chic Nova) will leave you feeling warm and looking good at the track. I added a pair of hunter green jeans for $23 from H&M, a pair of $30 Avenue Winston boots, a $20 Alya Brown handbag and a cozy sweater for $36 by Dex. Accessorize with this beautiful silk scarf ($34, Meltem) silk scarf that incorporates both the green and rose quartz colors, then add some simple earrings ($28, Panacea) and this wide-brim felt hat for $8.05 by Seductive. All in all, you’ll be ready for the races and rocking the rose quartz for just $225.05 from hat to boots.

If you’re lucky enough to live in warmer climates, this faux-suede shift ($50, River Island) in rose quartz is perfect for a day at the races! I added a stack of bangles for $15 from Dorothy Perkins, a fabulous pair of gold sandals for $18 by Rampage, an Art Deco-inspired handbag by Avenue for $21 and a flower clip for $23 from Accessorize. Finish off the look with a sweet and simple pair of gold studs for $9.99 by Sevil Designs, and you’re race-day ready for only $136.99!

The serenity shade of blue is one of my favorite colors, so I had a lot of fun putting this look together! I adore this coat ($27, Rose Gal) and layered it over a sleek navy sheath for $30 from UNIQLO. A pair of cognac booties ($30, Charlotte Russe) and gloves ($25, Merona) complement the blues nicely, and the $50 River Island handbag looks much more expensive than its ticket price. The $11 BIADANI scarf incorporates the navy and serenity blues of the look beautifully, and I finished the look with a $45 Charisse felt fascinator and a beautiful pair of Yoins earrings that somehow only cost $4.03. All in all, this Pantone-inspired look will run you $222.03, which should leave you with plenty of betting money left over for a day at the track!

This look may be my favorite of the four here; it makes me want to head to a warm-weather track like Gulfstream Park or Santa Anita Park for a day outside celebrating my favorite sport. The top is $30 from Zara, and I layered it over a bold pencil skirt for $15 by City Chic. The Charles by Charles David wedges are $42, and the Emilie M. Nancy ostrich handbag is $31. Bring your $29 Pied Piper blazer in case it gets chilly, and scrunch up the sleeves to show off this cool cuff for $13 by Charlotte Russe. A statement necklace ($15, Forever21) speaks volumes without emptying your bank account, and keep the sun at bay with this fabulous wide-brimmed hat for $33 by Luxury Divas. All together, this warm weather racing look is $208, and you’ll be able to use individual pieces in lots of other looks all year long!
