Trainer Eric Guillot is not prepared to say Moreno will return to racing in 2016, but the grade I winner worked Dec. 19 at Los Alamitos Race Course and Guillot will see how the 5-year-old Ghostzapper   gelding comes out of the move.

Moreno was credited with a handy four-furlong move in :47 4/5 Saturday, which ranked third-fastest of 18 works at the distance at the California track.

Earlier this year, after an eighth-place finish in the Whitney Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course, Guillot announced Southern Equine Stable's Moreno would be retired. But Guillot said Saturday that Moreno has benefitted from the extended time off at the farm and he'd been eased back into training just to see how he's doing.

After Moreno's work Saturday, Guillot was not ready to say if the veteran will return to racing or not. The trainer said he'll be cautious on any such decision and will evaluate how Moreno comes out of the work.

Moreno won the 2014 Whitney and added his third career graded stakes win this year in the Charles Town Classic Stakes (gr. II).
