I Came to Party stalked from third early, moved to lead on the second turn, and romped away to a convincing victory Dec. 20 at Los Alamitos Race Course to become the first winner for California-based stallion Bold Chieftain.
A 12-year-old son of Chief Seattle—Hooked On Music, by Seattle Dancer, Bold Chieftain stands at Ellen Jackson's Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, Calif. He has 18 2-year-olds in his first crop. Bold Chieftain's 2016 fee is set at $3,000.
During eight seasons on the track, Bold Chieftain won or placed in 36 of 47 starts, winning 14 stakes among 18 victories, including the 2010 San Francisco Mile (gr. IIT), while earning $1,683,181.
I Came to Party won the mile maiden claiming race by 6 1/2 lengths despite drifting out through the stretch and covered the distance in 1:39.92 on a track rated as good. He is owned by Robert Bone, Joey Platts, William Strauss, and John F. Martin, who also trains the gelding. Jackson along with Kevin and Kim Nish bred the colt in California from the winning Decarchy mare Onefunsonofagun.
