Kentucky Downs has scheduled a handicapping contest that will qualify the winner for free entry and travel expenses for this year's lucrative Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge contest.
The Franklin, Ky. track will offer its handicapping contest Sept. 18. The contest will determine winners based on $2 win-place wagers on the day's Kentucky Downs races.
The top handicapper from the contest will win an entry seat to the Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge where there's a cash prize pool up to $500,000. The Breeders' Cup contest would otherwise cost $10,000 to enter.
The winner also will receive round-trip airfare to the Breeders' Cup World Championships Nov. 1-2 at Santa Anita Park, deluxe accommodations for three nights, a clubhouse seat for the Breeders' Cup, one ticket for a guest on the clubhouse apron, and two tickets to a VIP party at Santa Anita.
Second place will return $1,000, third place, $500; and fourth through tenth will play $100 each.
If the winner of the Sept. 18 handicapping contest at Kentucky Downs cannot attend the Breeders' Cup Championships, he or she may select an alternate grand prize of $5,000. Should any participant win multiple BCBC entry fees or berths throughout the year, the berth earned in this tournament or any non-online tournament during 2013 may be transferred to another handicapper.
This transfer is permitted because the BCBC tournament at Santa Anita allows only one entry per person.
