Chocolate Ride won the grade II Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial Stakes in 2015

Wentworth Brochu's Chocolate Ride worked a tad slow Jan. 3 but remains on target for the Jan. 16 Colonel E.R. Bradley Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Chocolate Ride, a 6-year-old Candy Ride   gelding, worked a half-mile in :52 but encountered some trouble, trainer Brad Cox said.

"We're probably running Chocolate Ride in the (Bradley)," Cox said. "His work (Sunday morning) was a little slower than we wanted, but there was a little confusion with a horse breaking off and (Chocolate Ride) galloped out really good. Despite a little traffic trouble, the work was really good. He's doing excellent."

Chocolate Ride, who has earned $371,191 in 14 starts, won the Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial (gr. IIT) and Fair Grounds Handicap (gr. IIIT) in 2015. He was claimed by John Wentworth for $40,000 in November 2014 at Churchill Downs.

"Right now we'll let him tell us what we'll do (after the Bradley)," Cox said. "If we feel like we should run him in the (Fair Grounds Handicap) and then the grade I Maker's 46 Mile at Keeneland, we might do that. We will take it race by race. That's how I like to do it."
