A rare triple dead heat for victory was recorded in the fifth race on the April 11 night program at Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel when racing officials and stewards determined that the win photo showed the noses of all three horses hit the wire at the same time .
In the $16,000 six-furlong test for maiden claimers, 7-1 shot Memories of Trina dueled from between horses for the early lead and held a clear two-length advantage at the eighth pole. However, All in the Art and 26-1 longshot Chessie Slew, both of whom had stalked the early pace from the inside before advancing entering the turn, were roused late to catch Memories of Time. Those three finished a length in front of 5-2 favorite Lady Bristineau in a final time of 1:13.59.
In alphabetical order, All in the Art paid $4.60, $4.40, and $4.20, with Chessie Slew worth $15, $13.60, and $9.60, and Memories of Trina returning $6.60, $8, and $5.
According to Evangeline Downs, the rare feat was the sixth three-way tie for win at a U.S. track since 1990, the most recent in December 1997 at Hollywood Park.
