The Panamanian native drove the 4-year-old daughter of Sharp Humor to a 2 3/4-length score in the final race of the day for trainer Kathleen O'Connell, who co-owns the filly with Betty Hamilton. Sharp Tongue completed the 6 1/2-furlong test for $12,500 claimers in 1:22.26 on a fast main track.
Gutierrez logged his first career win in December 1979 at Hipodromo Presidente Remon. According to Equibase statistics, the veteran rider has had just five mounts in 2014 through April 11, winning twice. In addition to his win total, he has 1,094 seconds and 1,077 third-place finishes from 8,674 carer mounts, with total purse earnings of $8,566,381.
