On the same day she was named a 2015 Eclipse Award finalist in the Filly and Mare Sprint Division, Lady Sheila Stable's La Verdad was entered in the $100,000 Interborough Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack for her first start of 2016.
La Verdad was one of three finalists in her division after a 2015 season in which she won five stakes, including three graded stakes, and finished second to Wavell Avenue (also a finalist in the division) in the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I).
Trained by Linda Rice, La Verdad will be making her first start since closing 2015 against males with a sixth in the Fall Highweight Handicap (gr. II) Nov. 26 at Aqueduct. The daughter of Yes It's True will make her 6-year-old debut in the Interborough, a six-furlong race for fillies and mares.
The field also includes the top two finishers from the Garland of Roses Stakes Dec. 5 at Aqueduct in David Jacobson's Room for Me and Barry Schwartz's Princess Violet, as well as Godolphin Racing's Dancing House, who will be making her first start since an easy allowance race win in April 2015 at Keeneland.
