Jockey Nik Juarez found himself in the winner's circle six times during Laurel Park's nine-race program Jan. 11, capping off the afternoon with a victory aboard Escrow Kid in the ninth race.
Juarez began by winning three consecutive races starting with Start Swinging ($8.80) in the second race. He followed that with a victory in the third race with Closure ($10) and the fourth with Bioterp ($4.20). Juarez then won the sixth race with Sneaky Fair ($11.60), the seventh with Bustin to Win ($11.20) and ended it all with Escrow Kid ($3.40) in the ninth.
Three of Juarez's winners—Closure, Bustin to Win and Escrow Kid—are trained by Hugh McMahon.
It's been a good several months for Juarez, a native of Westminster, Md. He won his first graded stakes aboard Valid in the summer in the Philip H. Iselin (gr. III) and rode Crossed Sabres Farm's gelding to a fifth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. I).
