Unbeaten 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) winner Songbird, the overwhelming favorite to be named champion 2-year-old filly at the Eclipse Awards Jan. 16, worked six furlongs 1:14 2/5 on Santa Anita Park's fast main track Jan. 14.
The Kentucky-bred daughter of Medaglia d'Oro owned by Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farms is scheduled to make her 3-year-old debut in the $300,000 Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. II) at a mile Feb. 6.
"It was real good," trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said of the workout. "It was just what we wanted today."
Santa Anita clocker Dane Nelson had Songbird's fractional times of :26 flat, :38 1/5, :50 1/5, and 1:02 2/5, with a gallop out to seven furlongs in 1:27 4/5.
