Gender Agenda, Stormy Lucy Renew Rivalry

Gender Agenda and Stormy Lucy are set to renew their seesaw rivalry again in the $100,000 Megahertz Stakes (gr. IIIT), the feature on the Martin Luther King Day holiday card Jan. 18 at Santa Anita Park.



The two mares will go toe-to-toe in their fourth straight contest Monday in the mile turf event, a cut back from their last meeting at 1 1/8 miles in the Robert J. Frankel Stakes (gr. IIIT) Dec. 27, when Gender Agenda edged out Stormy Lucy by a neck.

But the last time they raced at the mile distance, Steve Moger's Stormy Lucy got the best of her rival in the Nov. 29 Matriarch (gr. I), when the daughter of Stormy Atlantic   stunned the field at odds of 65-1 and Gender Agenda came in fifth, 3 1/4 lengths behind.

Also turning back for the Megahertz is game third-place Frankel finisher Glory, who was also a neck back in a blanket finish at the wire after setting the pace. The Tapit   filly, owned by Fox Hill Farms and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, came into the Frankel off two straight convincing allowance victories and could be primed for an improvement in her second stakes try on grass.



Last-out Golden Gate Fields stakes winner Circling, graded stakes-placed Theatre Star, and multiple stakes winner Alexis Tangier could also provide intriguing options Monday.
