Four-time stakes winner Beau Choix has been retired and presently is available for inspection as a stallion prospect at Mill Ridge Farm.
A homebred for Belle Meadows Stable and Lael Stable, Beau Choix won at least one stakes race in three straight seasons 2010-12. The grade I-placed 6-year-old Elusive Quality horse won an allowance race on the turf at Gulfstream Park this year and added a fourth graded-stakes placing this season when he finished second to Za Approval in the Appleton Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Gulfstream.
Headley Bell, managing partner of Mill Ridge Farm, announced Belle Choix's retirement. He most recently registered an off-the-board finish in a July 24 allowance-optional claiming race at Saratoga Race Course.
Beau Choix is out of multiple graded stakes winner Belle Cherie, by Belong to Me , who also has produced stakes winner Last Best Place and stakes-placed Belle Cherie Marie. Belle Cherie is a half sister to two-time grade I winner Octave and two other stakes winners.
Trained by Barclay Tagg, Beau Choix won the 2011 and 2012 editions of the Rob N Gin Stakes at Belmont Park, the 2010 Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga, and that year's James W. Murphy Stakes presented by Iberia Airline at Pimlico Race Course.
Beau Choix produced a slate of 7-5-6 from 30 starts (28 on turf) and earned $425,694.
