Joe Ragsdale's Sarah Sis, who won the Oct. 17 Lexus Raven Run (gr. II) at Keeneland in her most recent start, will launch her 4-year-old campaign Jan. 23 in the $100,000 American Beauty Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
Sarah Sis is co-highweight at 122 pounds for the six-furlong American Beauty, sharing that distinction with fellow last-out Keeneland winner Meshell. While Sarah Sis took the seven-furlong Raven Run for trainer Ingrid Mason after she prompted the pace in second throughout, Meshell came from as far back as seventh in the $100,000 Fort Springs Stakes Oct. 31 to give trainer Jeff Lynn the victory.
Sarah Sis, a daughter of Sharp Humor, will break from post 2 under jockey Julio Felix. Meshell, by Elusive Quality , will leave from the rail under Chris Emigh for owners Andrew Knapczyk and Douglas S. Arnold.
Alex and JoAnn Lieblong's Spring Included, who missed this race by half-length last year for trainer Steve Hobby, is back to take another try. The 5-year-old Include mare must do better than the season-ending effort that saw her finish seventh in the Nov. 27 Dream Supreme Stakes at Churchill Downs. Regular rider Joe Rocco Jr. has the mount from the outside post.
