Haveyougoneaway fights off favorite Sarah Sis to win the American Beauty Stakes.

Champion Racing Stable's Haveyougoneaway edged game favorite Sarah Sis in the $100,000 American Beauty Stakes Jan. 23, when she galloped through an opening on the rail and worked hard for the victory in the final furlongs at Oaklawn Park.

The win was a better result for the 5-year-old New York-bred daughter of Congrats   than her 2015 American Beauty try, when she finished third in the six-furlong test to Sugar Shock and Spring Included.

As Sarah Sis and Super Saks went all-out at each other leaving the gate and raced stride-for-stride through opening fractions of :22.11 and :45.61, jockey Jareth Loveberry was content with mid-pack placement in the field of seven and eased over to the rail from post 5.

Turning for home, Sarah Sis drifted to the three path and left clear sailing on the inside for Haveyougoneaway, who galloped through but found a determined foe in the 6-5 choice. Those two battled down to the line through five-eighths in :57.91, and Haveyougoneaway edged forward to clear her tiring rival by a neck.

"The race set up perfect for us," said winning jockey Jareth Loveberry. "The two speed horses went to the front as I expected and I was able to set off them. The rail opened up for us down the lane and I had plenty of horse to get her going. I was worried (Sarah Sis) was digging in and was going to get to us, but we were able to stay in front and get up for the win. She's an honest filly that tries hard wherever she goes. She loves it here and showed it today."

Final time on a fast track was 1:10.32.

"The pace set up perfect for her," trainer Allen Milligan said. "Jareth loves this filly. She's his favorite horse and he really gets along good with her."

Haveyougoneaway returned $9, $3.40, and $3 at odds of 7-2, while Sarah Sis paid $3 and $2.40. Meshell passed a tiring Super Saks to claim the show spot, worth $3.60. Swing It Dish, Donita's Ruler, and Spring Included completed the order of  finish.

The winner collected her second stakes victory, after she captured the Flashy Lady Stakes at Remington Park in September. Bred in Kentucky by Andy Beadnell & Susan Beadnell out of the Wiseman's Ferry mare One Wise Cowgirl, she was a $1,200 purchase as a 2-year-old by Champion Racing Stable from the Four Star Sales consignment at the 2013 Keeneland November mixed breeding stock sale. She also passed through the ring on three other occasions, including when John Greathouse bought her as a weanling pinhook for $50,000 from the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall mixed sale in 2011 when consigned by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds. She now has a 7-2-6 record from 20 starts for earnings of $312,425.

Haveyougoneaway will next target the $100,000 Spring Fever Stakes, a 5 1/2-furlong sprint on the Feb. 20 program at Oaklawn.
