The extraordinary record of Coolmore Stud stallion Galileo, leading sire England and Ireland for the seventh time in 2015, was recognized Jan. 23 when he was inducted into the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Association's Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the ITBA annual racing and breeding awards in County Laois.
The 18-year-old son of Sadler's Wells—Urban Sea (Miswaki), was also leading sire in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014
. He has 52 group I or grade I winners and more than 130 graded or group winners since entering stud in 2002, including numerous classic winners such as
Frankel,
Australia,
Ruler of The World,
Gleneagles, and
New Approach. His runners have earned more than $156.9 million.
Three of Galileo's offspring were honored during the evening with 2015 ITBA awards:
Found, 3-year-old filly;
Order of St George; 3-year-old colt, and
Minding, 2-year-old filly.
