Horse Racing Radio Network, the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, announced April 22 it has reached an agreement with Yahoo! Sports Radio to carry the network's 2014 Triple Crown broadcasts on more than 70 Yahoo! Sports Radio affiliates across the U.S.
For the fourth consecutive year, HRRN will provide exclusive, live radio coverage of the 140th Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) on Saturday, May 3 from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. HRRN has been the exclusive radio partner of the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) since 2008 and will again originate coverage of the "middle jewel" live from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on Saturday, May 17 before returning to Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) on Saturday, June 7.
HRRN has scheduled more than 30 hours of on-site Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown-related coverage with live Derby week coverage beginning the morning of Wednesday, April 30 with HRRN's popular Derby Countdown Show hosted live from Churchill Downs.
Each of HRRN's Triple Crown broadcasts will air live from 5-7 p.m. EDT.
"The addition of the Yahoo! Sports Radio affiliates will significantly enhance our distribution of the broadcasts and allow us to expose these premier events to an even greater audience across the country. We are thrilled to have them on board," HRRN president Mike Penna said .
In 2013, listeners in 140 countries and all 50 states made HRRN their home for live racing coverage.
