40-Day Santa Anita Spring Meet Starts Friday

The first-ever spring meeting at Santa Anita Park will get underway Friday, April 25,when the track will present an eight-race program with a twilight first post time of 3 p.m. PDT.

The opening-day card will include the $100,000 Last Tycoon Stakes (gr. III) at 1 1/8 miles on turf. The race, formerly the Inglewood Stakes when offered at Hollywood Park, is race 4 on the program with a scheduled post time of 4:30 p.m. PDT.



The 40-day spring stand will feature a number of promotions and events. The track will offer fans free infield general admission and parking through Gate 6 each weekend through closing day June 29.



Gate 6 is located off of Colorado Place on the track’s northern perimeter. Fans are encouraged to bring beach chairs and picnic items, including food and beverage (no alcohol or glass containers).



The free infield promotion on weekends includes a "Family Fun Zone," featuring pony rides, face paintings, carnival games, and sodas, chips, and hot dogs.



With the exception of opening week and Memorial Day week, Santa Anita's spring meet will operate on a regular Thursday through Sunday schedule. First post time on all Fridays except Kentucky Oaks Day, May 2, will be at 3 p.m. PDT. First post time on all other race days, except Triple Crown days, will be at 1 p.m. PDT.
