Nickname Returns in Martha Washington

Grade I winner Nickname makes her season debut in the $100,000 Martha Washington Stakes Feb. 6 at Oaklawn Park, starting for the first time since a fourth-place finish in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) Oct. 31 at Keeneland.

LNJ Foxwoods' 3-year-old Scat Daddy   filly, a $350,000 Solis & Litt purchase from the Upson Downs Farm consignment to the 2014 Keeneland September yearling sale, won the Oct. 3 Frizette Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park after breaking her maiden on second asking for trainer Steve Asmussen at Saratoga Race Course last September.

Nickname will break from the rail Saturday under Corey Nakatani, and shares highweight assignment of 122 pounds with My Master Plan and Marquee Miss.

My Master Plan is unbeaten in four career starts, including the $100,000 Trapeze Stakes Dec. 13 at Remington Park in her previous outing. The Texas-bred daughter of Oratory is trained by Donnie K. Von Hemel, who won the 2006 Martha Washington with Brownie Points for owner/breeder Josephine Abercrombie's Pin Oak Stable.

Von Hemel also will saddle Ready to Confess, another Pin Oak homebred who has won her last two starts, including an entry-level allowance/optional claimer Jan. 15 at Oaklawn—the same day Abercrombie turned 90.

Marquee Miss exits a front-running 2 1/2-length victory over Durango in the $100,000 Dixie Belle Stakes Jan. 15 at Oaklawn. Ingrid Mason, the trainer of Marquee Miss, ran second to champion Take Charge Brandi in last year's Martha Washington with Sarah Sis.

Probable post time for the Martha Washington, the eighth of nine races, is 4:38 p.m. CST. The one-mile race is the first major local two-turn prep for the $400,000 Fantasy Stakes (gr. III) April 9, and is a Road to the Kentucky Oaks race awarding points for the Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) to the top four finishers on a 10-4-2-1 scale.
