Description:

America’s Best Racing and BetAmerica team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, handicapper and avid gambler Monique Vág will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet. The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, Vág will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
She also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.
Place your bets at BetAmerica, which prides itself on outstanding customer service combined with the safety and security of wagering with a reputable advance-deposit wagering platform.

This Weekend’s Bets
Longshot Bet
Saturday, Santa Anita Park, Race 2, 4 p.m. ET
#12 Great Bambino: He adds Lasix (furosemide) to help with his racing debut. He has a couple of notable workouts, like his first three in early November, which show he may be fast enough to score in his first time out. In a wide-open race, this one may try and work out a nice off-the-pace trip.
Best Bet
Saturday, Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap, 5:23 p.m. ET
#6 The Pizza Man: The lone Grade 1 winner in the field, The Pizza Man makes his first career start at Gulfstream Park. The minor cutback in distance isn't troublesome to me at all. I think as long as he's going two turns, he's always going to be a serious contender. A win here puts him over the $2-million dollar lifetime mark. Why not do it in style?
Best Bet
Saturday, Santa Anita Park, Las Virgenes Stakes, 5:30 p.m. ET
#6 Songbird: She's in stellar form coming off a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies romp as a short-priced favorite. Songbird hopes to pick up some Kentucky Oaks points in this Grade 2 contest going a mile on the dirt. She will run her race on the front end and should win this one handily. At very likely 1-9 post-time odds, she will be my Pick 5 and Pick 6 single.
Exacta Box
Sunday, Fair Grounds, Race 4, 2:25 p.m. ET
#2 Leadem in Ken: He’s a quiet 2-for-2 on firm turf in his career. He's had some experiences against stakes horses, so he will appreciate the drop into claiming company. I think this one will be closing late.
#3 Klisz: Shows some early speed and I like that his last win came on the turf in a $50,000 claiming race. What stands out for me about this one is his last workout on Jan. 3, four furlongs in 1:01.80. Looks ready.
#9 Sevenoaks: He will probably try to win this one going gate to wire. He flaunts some nice speed and hopes to start 2016 off 2-for-2. I like how jockey James Graham stays aboard as this gelding enters back in to the same classification he just won in. He's quietly won five of his last 10 starts. Turf or distance won't be an issue.
