Breeders' Cup Tabs Fleming for New Position

Description:

Breeders' Cup announced Feb. 12 that Drew Fleming has been named to the new position of senior vice president, development and administration. Fleming will spearhead the long-term planning and coordination of business opportunities for the company, which administers the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

Fleming will officially begin his duties Feb. 26.

Fleming, from Lexington, comes to Breeders' Cup from Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, where he served as an attorney focused on corporate transactions with an emphasis on equine transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital. Stoll Keenon Ogden serves as legal counsel to the Breeders' Cup.

Among his duties with the Breeders' Cup, Fleming will be responsible for: enhanced constituent communications within the Thoroughbred industry; community relations in Kentucky and with future host Breeders' Cup sites; legislative support in areas such as safety and integrity issues; and gaming initiatives, legal compliance, and risk management.

"We welcome Drew to the Breeders' Cup and look forward to him providing us with a vital and creative direction in new business development and take advantage of his knowledge, expertise and connections within our industry," said Breeders' Cup president Craig Fravel. "Drew's close working relationship with us over the past few years and his ability to build and expand relationships with our nominators, owners and breeders, and with the communities of our Breeders' Cup host sites, will be a great asset for our company and the World Championships."

"It is a tremendous opportunity to work for a pillar in our industry," Fleming said. "Working for the Breeders' Cup is certainly a dream job, and I am excited to pair my prior legal experience with my love for Thoroughbred racing. Getting to work with such talented individuals at the highest level is a true honor. I had the good fortune to work with the best and brightest of the legal industry at Stoll Keenon Ogden, and it is with great pleasure that I now have the opportunity to work with the best and brightest of the equine industry."
