Last year's Saratoga Special Stakes (gr. II) runner-up Saratoga Mischief is entered for his 3-year-old debut Feb. 14 in the $100,000 Fred "Cappy" Capossela Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack.
The Capossela is for 3-year-olds sprinting six furlongs on the Aqueduct inner track and has attracted six entries.
Twin Creeks Racing Stables' Saratoga Mischief won his maiden debut July 25 at Saratoga Race Course before he finished second by three-quarters of a length to Exaggerator in the 6 1/2-furlong Saratoga Special. Exaggerator closed his juvenile season with a victory in the Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (gr. III).
Saratoga Mischief, a son of Into Mischief , has not raced since that Aug. 16 Saratoga Special effort, but has been working regularly toward his 2016 debut, registering four works since Jan. 17 at Palm Beach Downs for trainer Todd Pletcher.
While Saratoga Mischief will open his season sprinting, Zayat Stables' King Kranz will return to sprinting after a sixth-place finish in the 1 1/16-mile Withers Stakes (gr. III) Jan. 30 at Aqueduct. Prior to that effort the son of Munnings registered a clear victory in the Lost In The Fog Stakes, like the Capossela a six-furlong race on the Aqueduct inner dirt track.
