Several Tracks Cancel Feb. 13 Race Cards

Description:

With single-digit temperatures expected during racing hours, Turfway Park canceled live racing for Feb. 13, and New York's Aqueduct Racetrack also canceled the day's card, citing high winds and sub-zero wind chills. Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races also canceled its Saturday card because of extreme cold.

Turfway said a decision regarding rescheduling the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes is pending and that a concert planned for Saturday night has also been canceled. Turfway will remain open for simulcasting.

The Aqueduct card was highlighted by the Broadway and Haynesfield Stakes, each worth $100,000 and restricted to New York-breds.

With live racing at Aqueduct scheduled to resume Sunday, Feb. 14, the New York Racing Association said it would monitor weather forecasts, and will provide updates should further action be necessary regarding Sunday's scheduled race card.

Aqueduct and Belmont Cafe remain open for Saturday simulcasting.

Due to the extreme cold forecast throughout the day and into the night that is expected to produce wind chills into the negative single digits, Charles Town Races cancelled live racing for Saturday evening, February 13. The facility will remain open for simulcasting as scheduled.

Charles Town, which is currently conducting live racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, is slated to have racing resume on Thursday, Feb. 18 with a start time of 7 p.m. EST.
