After a tough beat in the Jan. 23 American Beauty Stakes, Rags Racing Stable's grade II winner Sarah Sis takes on eight rivals in the $100,000 Bayakoa Stakes (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park.
The 1 1/16-mile Bayakoa will be the second start of the season for 4-year-old Sarah Sis, who won the Lexus Raven Run (gr. II) in October at Keeneland to cap a 3-year-old season that included victory in the Iowa Oaks (gr. III). In the six-furlong American Beauty, the Ingrid Mason trainee dueled for the lead and got it, only to be run down by Haveyougoneaway for a neck loss.
With regular rider Julio Felix in the irons, Sarah Sis will leave post 4 under 119 pounds.
In to challenge on a three-race win streak is Streamline, neck winner of the Jan. 17 Pippin Stakes. That race, run at the Bayakoa distance, was won by a strong rally after Streamline fell back to seventh, then closed and split foes for a 15-1 upset. Chris Landeros has the call from the 2 hole.
Groupie Doll Stakes (gr. III) winner Call Pat was scratched from the Feb. 13 Royal Delta (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park by trainer Brad Cox to run in this spot instead. For her first start since a third in the Nov. 26 Falls City Handicap (gr. II) at Churchill Downs, the 6-year-old Lawyer Ron mare will have Joe Rocco Jr. aboard from post 7.
