In her first timed workout since the easiest of scores in the Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. II), Fox Hill Farms' undefeated Songbird covered four furlongs on Santa Anita Park's fast main track Feb. 14 in :48 2/5 under exercise rider Edgar Rodriguez.
The champion 2-year-old filly of 2015 earned the rare "breezing" tag at the Southern California racetrack, the only one of 175 on the tab to get that note. All the rest earned "handily" tags.
BALAN: Songbird Untouchable in Las Virgenes
The Medaglia d'Oro filly is preparing for the $400,000 Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) at 1 1/16 miles on April 9.
"Nice and easy," trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said after the work. "She's coming along good."
