Gulfstream Park established a record total handle for Fountain of Youth day with $24.113 million wagered on the Feb. 27 card, highlighted by undefeated Mohaymen's victory in the $400,000 Xpressbet.com Fountain of Youth (gr. II).

The previous Fountain of Youth Day handle of $20.680 million was set last year.

"We're extremely pleased with Saturday's incredible day," said P.J. Campo, Gulfstream's general manager and The Stronach Group's director of racing. "From 8 a.m. through the evening, Gulfstream was filled with an incredible and enthusiastic crowd watching some of the top performances of our Championship Meet."

Meanwhile, Gulfstream said its unique Rainbow 6 wager had a record carryover jackpot of $2,049,410.77 going into Sunday, Feb. 28.

A total of $663,017 was wagered Saturday on the Rainbow 6, which spanned races 8-13 on the program. Multiple tickets with all six winners, including Fountain of Youth winner Mohaymen in the 12th, were each worth $1,374.16

The Rainbow 6 is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70% of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30% is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The jackpot has been building for 34 consecutive programs since last being hit for $76,799.38 Jan. 1. The largest payout of the current Championship Meet was $262,634.84 on Jan. 7.
