Todd Pletcher has taken over the training of Off the Tracks, a 3-year-old daughter of Curlin who is undefeated in three career starts.
Newtown Anner Stud has purchased a majority interest in the filly, who is by Curlin out of Harve de Grace, by Boston Harbor. Off the Tracks, who was purchased for $50,000 at the 2014 Keeneland September yearling sale by Chad Summers, agent, thus far has raced for J Stables under the care of trainer Roderick Rodriguez.
"We picked her up three days ago and she galloped yesterday and today," Pletcher said Feb. 28. "She's a big, strong filly and looks good. We'll probably look to gallop her the remainder of this week and start breezing her (the weekend of March 5-6)."
Pletcher said the April 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks (gr. II) at 1 1/16 miles is possible for the filly.
Off the Tracks won her debut in maiden special weight company June 13, 2015, at Gulfstream Park and then shipped north where she captured the grade III Schuylerville Stakes July 24 at Saratoga Race Course. She returned to the races Feb. 21 at Gulfstream and won the Margate Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs after having been sidelined with a knee injury that required surgery.
"I'm familiar with the filly from her race at Saratoga and I watched her race (in the Margate)," Pletcher said. "You would think with the pedigree that she has she would want to stretch out, so we'll see how she trains and go from there."
