Beholder won Zenyatta Stakes in her last start

Spendthrift Farm's Beholder, champion older female of 2015, breezed for the first time this year March 1 at Santa Anita Park.

The 6-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes went three furlongs in :36 3/5, which ranked sixth of 12 timed moves at the distance.

Beholder, also a champion filly at ages 2 and 3, was scratched from an expected showdown with Triple Crown winner American Pharoah   in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) Oct. 31 at Keeneland when she was discovered to have bled to two days before the race. The mare developed a fever after shipping from California to Kentucky about 10 days earlier.

In her most recent start for trainer Richard Mandella, Beholder won the Sept. 26 Zenyatta Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita for the third successive year amid a six-race win streak.
