Big Macher's Foot Doing Well After Treatment

Grade II-winning sprinter Big Macher, vanned off the course with a right front foot problem following a workout May 10 at Santa Anita Park, is doing well after treatment, trainer Richard Baltas reported.
"He's acting normal in the stall; we soaked his foot yesterday, poulticed it, and walked him this morning," Baltas said the morning of May 11. "Nothing showed up. We'll work on his foot the next couple days, maybe have a vet X-ray it, nuclear scan it, to see if we can find anything else."
A two-time stakes-winning sprinter at the current Santa Anita meet, Big Macher was vanned off following a five-furlong workout in :59 4/5 the morning of May 10.
The 4-year-old California-bred son of Beau Genius is owned by Tom Mansor and Tachycardia Stables.
Big Macher defeated favored Wild Dude in the Potrero Grande Stakes (gr. II) April 12. He finished half a length behind Sahara Sky when second in the San Carlos Stakes (gr. II) before that, an effort that followed a dominating win over state-breds in the Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint Jan. 25.
The bay gelding, claimed from his first start for $20,000 at Del Mar July 17, has four wins, two seconds, and two thirds from 10 starts and earnings of $316,428.
