Flintshire wins 2015 Sword Dancer

Six-year-old Flintshire, who finished second in the Longines Hong Kong Vase (HK-I) in his most-recent start, arrived at trainer Chad Brown's Belmont Park barn March 5 after quarantine to prepare for his United States campaign.

Owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms, the Dansili horse finished second to Highland Reel Dec. 13 in Hong Kong to end his 2015 season. Last year, trained by Andre Fabre, Flintshire won the Sword Dancer Stakes (gr. IT) at Saratoga Race Course, and in 2014 finished second to eventual champion turf male and older horse Main Sequence in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park.

Flintshire, who has finished second twice in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I), has five wins, 10 seconds, and one third in 19 starts.

"We let him jog a mile under tack today and he looked great," Brown said March 6. "The horse came from Andre Fabre in outstanding shape. We're so thankful they sent us this horse to begin with and even more thankful he's in such outstanding condition. He's a remarkable-looking horsea picture of health right out of quarantine.

"We're going to take some time to get to know the horse and pick up his training a little bit, then hopefully we'll start to map out a schedule for him."
