Preakness fashion isn't limited to the ladies. (Photo by Eclipse Sportswire)
All eyes will be on Baltimore on Saturday May 17, as the 139th edition of the Preakness Stakes takes place at Pimlico Race Course. Baltimore is known as the “Charm City,” so it comes as no surprise that charming and classy attire are a big part of Preakness day as well as all of the events and festivities that go along with the historic race.
While I am sure many of the ladies have already picked out their Preakness day outfits for quite some time now, I am also sure that many of the gentlemen out there might not have taken as much time to toil over their race-day garb.
Guys, here are three separate looks that may go a long way for you on Preakness day. Everyone has their own unique style, so please adapt these looks below to your own personal tastes.
And remember – we want to see all of your Preakness day fashion, so please send us your Preakness Day photos at @ABRLive on Twitter and @AmericasBestRacing on Instagram using the hashtag #AmericasBestFashion!
THE BOX SEATS
Suits are a dime-a-dozen in the box seats, especially when you settle for the customary navy or black. Shake things up a little with this lightweight tan suit and you’ll stand out from the competition just like California Chrome did in the Kentucky Derby. I personally am a huge fan of paisley, and there’s nothing wrong with working a little green (the color of money!) into your track outfit, so I decided on the apple green paisley tie. Top everything off with some stylish socks (remember, your sock game is ALWAYS important) and brown loafers and you’ll be looking like a million bucks!

THE BAR OR WATCH PARTY
Perhaps you are attending a Preakness watch party? Sip on your Black-Eyed-Susans in this 21st century style! Pair your Preakness-yellow long-sleeve dress shirt with a snazzy navy blazer and the fillies will be fighting over you well in advance of post time for the Preakness! Vintage jeans, patterned socks, and classic boat shoes complete the outfit in an upscale manner.

THE INFIELD
Let’s face it, there’s a lot going on in the infield on Preakness day. You’re going to be moving around, you’re going to be hot, and you might even become a little tipsy. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t still look your best! A yellow polo will allow you to stay true to the traditional Preakness hue, and the seersucker shorts and boat shoes will keep you lightweight as you travel around Pimlico on race day. Your horse racing belt will show others that you are there for the racing AND the party, and your blue and gold aviator sunglasses will tie it all together.
