Description:

Grade III winner Tepin will open her second season of racing Friday, May 16 at Pimlico Race Course she will face an expected nine other 3-year-old fillies in the $100,000 Miss Preakness Stakes.

Robert Masterson's Tepin, supplemented to the race, will be making her first start since closing her juvenile season with a clear victory in the Delta Downs Princess Stakes (gr. III) in which the daughter of Bernstein defeated grade II winner Miss Behaviour, the fifth-place finisher who also is entered in the Miss Preakness.

Tepin won two of four starts last year and earned $342,084. Miguel Mena, who was aboard for all four of those efforts, will ride Friday.

Cal MacWilliam and Neil Teitelbaum's Miss Behaviour will try to end a three-race skid that included a third-place finish in her seasonal debut in the Stormy Blues Stakes April 19 on the turf at Pimlico. The Jump Start   filly will return to dirt in Friday's six-furlong race, the same distance where she recorded her clear victory in the Matron Stakes (gr. II) last year at Belmont Park and her 8 1/4-length romp in the Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park.

The Miss Preakness also has attracted Helen Groves and Jon and Sarah Kelly's homebred Tea Time, who led at every call in winning last year's Sharp Cat Stakes at Belmont Park. The daughter of Pulpit finished off the board in the Beaumont Stakes (gr. II) April 13 on the Polytrack at Keeneland.

Besides the winning purse, Adena Springs will donate a season to Ghostzapper   to the winning owner (filly must be approved by Adena Springs).

The first of seven stakes races scheduled on Friday's Pimlico card will be the Skipat Stakes, scheduled as race five, where Winning Image will try to secure a third straight stakes victory.

Martin Scafidi's Winning Image enters Friday's six-furlong test for fillies and mares off victories in the Primonetta Stakes April 19 at Pimlico and the What a Summer Stakes Jan. 25 at Laurel Park. The 7-year-old daughter of Southern Image   has won 13 of her 27 career starts.
