We are so excited for this year’s second leg of the Triple Crown. Firstly, we are in love with the Triple Crown contender California Chrome. (I mean, who’s not?!) Secondly, the fashion is going to be absolutely fabulous!
One of our favorite races to dress for, the Preakness Stakes brings the most fun into your fashion.
Tuning into our #TripleCrownTrends, the Preakness Stakes is all about the fun and craziness of what the Preakness Infield is in your outfit. You want to grab those modern prints, mix and match and consider bright colors, including neons, etc.
Leave that traditional Southern Gal back at the Kentucky Derby. This is the raceday to go outside your normal fashion box. Get a little crazy! Have some fun!
With all of your racewear, it's important to keep it elegant and chic, especially with Longines once again looking for the Most Elegant Woman on the day.
As always, leave the nightclub wear at home. Keep your skirt lengths two inches above the knee or below. This is probably the most laid back of the three Triple Crown Races. You are at the Preakness Stakes to eat crab cakes, have a Black-Eyed Susan cocktail and have some fun with your friends!
If you’re wearing a too-tight dress or uncomfortable shoes, you are going to regret it within the first hour.
Color blocking is a great trend for this race day. Bright pinks, neon greens, vibrant turquoise ... all of these colors are perfect for this exciting day of racing.
Our Preakness Lookbook shows a fabulous color-blocking outfit with a Locopa Designs fascinator and an ASOS dress (Less than $40 purchase!). Rather than matching the shoes to the color of the hat, you could even add another vibrant color like a neon pink to make the outfit even more fun!
Modern prints are another favorite for the Preakness. Bright, interesting, and eye-catching is the way to go. KACHEL makes some fantastic dresses for the Preakness Stakes. This fabric dress has a great modern print with fun colors.
For our Triple Crown special with LXTV’s “First Look,” we dressed Audrina Patridge, star of the reality show The Hill, for all three Triple Crown races, including the Preakness. Bri Mott dressed her in a KACHEL dress that had a fun Aztec inspired print with black panels on each side and a fun loose skirt. The look was finished with a Lisa Tan fascinator that is for sale at http://www.fashionattheraces.com. See the full video below:
As always, millinery is just as important as the shoes on your feet. Keep the millinery for the Preakness light and fun. If you want to get a bit risky, go for it! As our photographer said, “get those spiked bracelets out!” Bring those fun accessories with a rock star vibe! Leave the big-brimmed hats at home. Fun and fashion-forward fascinators are the way to go. Below is a selection of perfect fascinators for Preakness:
Boring Sidney Hats
Joy Scott Millinery
Karen Morris Millinery
Locopa Designs
Rose J Monzyk Millinery
Leah Cassidy Millinery
All right ladies, we can’t wait to see what you've put together for this fun day of racing! It’s time to #GetYourPreakOn!
