Oaklawn Park's management canceled its nine-race card scheduled for March 10 after more than five inches of rain left the track too saturated for racing.

"The safety of the horses and riders is always our first concern," said Oaklawn director of racing David Longinotti. "The rain began about 3 p.m. Tuesday and has barely stopped since."

Oaklawn remains open for gaming and simulcast racing. The game room will remain open until 3 a.m.

Live racing is scheduled to resume March 11 with a 1:30 p.m. CT first post. Oaklawn officials noted that several stakes horses exercised on the track in the late afternoon Thursday. Oaklawn expects to open for training at 7 a.m. March 11.
