Louisiana Breeders Announces Champions

The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association has announced the 2015 Louisiana-bred divisional champions for 2015, along with stallion of the year, broodmare of the year, and breeders of the year.

The Horse of the Year award for the 2015 season will be announced at the 2016 annual meeting June 11 at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Divisional Louisiana champions include:

2-year-old filly: Jet Black Magic, by Hold Me Back  —Rhodelia, by Silver Deputy. Owner-Carl Moore Management. Breeder-Clear Creek Stud.

2-year-old male: Sea Vow, by Private Vow—Victory At Sea, by Hazaam. Owner/breeder-Ronald Webb.

3-year-old filly: Pacific Pink, by Private Vow—Truly Romantic, by Robyn Dancer. Owner-Keith Plaisance. Breeder-Brandon Adcock.

3-year-old male: Mobile Bay, by Lone Star Special—Tranquility Bay, by Out of Place. Owner/breeder-Tigertail Ranch.

4-year-old and up female: Tensas Harbor, by Private Vow—Harbor Princess, by Boston Harbor. Owner-Cantrell Family Partnership. Breeder-Curt Leake.

4-year-old and up male: String King, by Crowned King—String Dancer, by Fly a Kite. Owner/breeder-Charles Craig Smith.

Other Louisiana awards include:

Broodmare of the year: Truly Romantic

Stallion of the year: Half Ours  

Breeder of the year: Irwin Olian (Tigertail Ranch)

High percentage breeder: Stacey Moak

Accredited Louisiana-bred champions and broodmare are selected by a vote of the membership. Leading stallion and leading breeders are based on statistics.
