The Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby is significant for two reasons: it’s Fair Grounds Race Course’s major prep race for the Kentucky Derby and it is also one of the first 100-point races on the road to the Derby. What that means is a win in the race, or even a second-place finish, can catapult a horse into the starting gate at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May. It’s a big race and there are many big personalities covering the race and competing in it whose Twitter accounts you’ll want to watch closely.
