Kingman Looks to Bounce Back in Irish Guineas

Kingman will get a chance to make amends for his close runner-up finish in the QIPCO Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) when he meets 13 opponents in the Tattersalls Irish Two Thousand Guineas (IRE-I) May 24 at the Curragh.
Juddmonte Farms' hombred son of Invincible Spirit was the favorite to take the English equivalent May 3 at Newmarket , but Richard Hannon's Night of Thunder edged him in the final strides in a 40-1 upset. Kingman suffered his first defeat in four starts for trainer John Gosden but is the 4-6 choice with bookmakers Paddy Power to bounce back.
Night of Thunder will not reoppose, but Hannon supplemented Guineas fourth-place finisher Shifting Power. The son of Compton Place, winner of a listed stakes at Newmarket in April, was 2 3/4 lengths behind his stablemate in the Guineas. He is the 8-1 fourth choice.
Trainer Dermot Weld sends out Sheikh Hamdan's Mustajeeb, who quickened impressively for a 2 1/2-length win over older runners in the Amethyst Stakes (Ire-III) May 11 at Leopardstown. The Nayef colt is pegged as the 6-1 second choice.
Aidan O'Brien sends a five-prong attack led by 2013 Dubai Dewhurst (Eng-I) winner War Command, a disappointing ninth in the Newmarket Guineas. The War Front colt, owned by a partnership of breeder Joseph Allen and Coolmore and associates, is tabbed the 13-2 third choice.
O'Brien also will be represented by Irish group III winner Great White Eagle, group III-placed Michaelmas, 2013 Racing Post Trophy (Eng-I) runner-up Johann Strauss, and maiden winner Fountain Of Youth.
