As we head towards the 146th Belmont Stakes, excitement is at an all-time high. I have friends in Georgia (people who have never been to a horse race) calling me and wanting to know all about California Chrome, the Belmont Stakes and what exactly a Triple Crown is because they keep seeing racing on the news – I love it! One of my biggest suggestions to them is to start following some key accounts on Twitter to stay up-to-date as we inch closer to June 7. Twitter is especially fun to follow on race days and with all of the anticipation surrounding this year’s Triple Crown bid it’s full of extremely up-to-date information for those interested in staying informed about the stars of our sport.
1. @TheNYRA
The New York Racing Association is the corporation that operates Belmont Park (along with Saratoga Race Course and Aqueduct Racetrack). Their Twitter feed live tweets the happenings at the tracks – before, during and after each race, information about things to come, pictures, fun facts and more.
2. @BelmontStakes
Okay, so this is obvious. It’s the official handle of the 146th Belmont Stakes. Follow to stay up-to-date on the incredible Belmont Stakes card on June 7, 2014.
3. @itsmevictoriag and @DanonymousMan
I suggest following my colleague Dan and me because we’ll be on the ground all week constantly tweeting and updating you on all things Belmont Stakes and horse racing.
