First off, the basics: when you go to the races in Florida, you’re going to want a few things. Namely, some sunscreen and lip balm with SPF to keep the strong Miami sun from torching you. Bring a water bottle with you to keep hydrated, and be sure that you have some cash in your pocket if you want to bet – no credit cards accepted at the windows! I always make sure that I have a remote charger for my cell phone in my pocket (Mophies are the best in my book) and I also pre-load Uber to my phone because I have no sense of direction to speak of. A reliable car service can be key for people like me!
If you or someone you’re going to the track with has a big enough bag, try to wedge in a pair of flip-flops if you’re planning on wearing uncomfortable shoes. Trust me: this can be the difference between a fantastic and unfortunate day. Finally, make sure that you have the perfect pair of shades for the afternoon: even in the shade, the South Florida sun can be strong.
