Keeneland officials said that as of April 1 eight 3-year-olds, including Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (gr. I) winner Brody's Cause, are probable for the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) April 9.
The winner of the 1 1/8-mile Blue Grass will earn 100 points on the "Road to the Kentucky Derby," with 40 points for second, 20 for third, and 10 for fourth.
Albaugh Family Stable's Brody's Cause, trained by Dale Romans, finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I), also at Keeneland. The Giant's Causeway colt didn't fire as the favorite in his only start this year, the March 12 Tampa Bay Derby (gr. II).
Other Blue Grass probables released by the Keeneland racing office are American Dubai, Donegal Moon, Hint of Roses, Laoban, Pinson, Star Hill, and Twizz.
The $500,000 Central Bank Ashland Stakes (gr. I) at 1 1/16 miles also is on the Saturday card. The race, which offers 170 points on the "Road to the Kentucky Oaks," is expected to attract Cash Is King's undefeated 3-year-old filly Cathryn Sophia, who won the Forward Gal and Davona Dale stakes (both gr. II) at Gulfstream Park in her last two starts and would make her first start around two turns in the Keeneland fixture.
Also expected for the Ashland is Stonestreet Stables' Rachel's Valentina, second to undefeated 2-year-old filly champion Songbird in last year's 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I). The Ashland will mark her first start of 2016.
